Make reading, talking and writing FUN!
Read with your child 20 minutes per day.
Discuss the stories with your children. Include follow-up questions and actively listen to their response.
Sing songs or recite nursery rhymes; play rhyming and riddle games.
Encourage children to write and draw daily.
Support our educators and students.
Find out how you or your company/organization can become a PALS (Partners Assisting Local School) Partner and help students to strengthen their literacy skills.
Talk to your local school or daycare centre about how you can help.
Children need books in their hands!
Donate to libraries, childcare centres, recreation centres, and any place that children gather.
Make a donation to BCAPI for Books Books Books. It’s a program led by Achieve Literacy that puts quality, age-appropriate books in the homes of children (aged 0 to 8) who live in Saint John’s low-income neighbourhoods.
Hold a literacy fundraiser for a neighbourhood, school or community organization.
